Walking Together for Children’s Mental Health
12/09/2024
In a world where the mental health of our children is increasingly coming into focus, we are proud to be part of a community that takes active steps to support this vital cause. Recently, we had the privilege of organizing an event that aimed not only to raise awareness but also to bring tangible benefits to the incredible children’s mental health charity, Invictus Wellbeing.
Our first fundraising event was nothing short of magical. Held at the scenic Hollingworth Lake, the event saw a strong turnout of 50 enthusiastic participants, all united by a common goal—supporting children’s mental health. The unique twist? Our wellness walk around the lake was done in our best pyjamas!
Why Pyjamas? The choice of attire was symbolic. Pyjamas represent comfort and security, elements that are crucial for mental well-being. By walking in our pyjamas, we aimed to bring attention to the importance of creating safe and comforting environments for children, both at home and in their wider communities.
I am thrilled to announce that our efforts have paid off substantially. Thanks to the generosity and commitment of our staff, carers, and children, we managed to raise an impressive £507 for Invictus Wellbeing. This amount will go a long way in supporting the various initiatives and programs that the charity runs to improve children’s mental health. The success of this event is a testament to what can be achieved when a community comes together for a worthy cause. From the staff who organised and coordinated the event, to the carers who ensured everyone was safe and comfortable, and to the children whose smiles and laughter made the day even more special—each one of you played a crucial role in making this event a resounding success. Mental health issues among children are alarmingly on the rise. According to research, one in eight children and young people aged 5-19 years has at least one mental disorder. Early intervention and support can make a significant difference in their lives, helping them grow into healthy, resilient adults.
Invictus Wellbeing is at the forefront of providing such essential support. The charity offers a range of services, from counselling and therapy to educational workshops and community programs. Their holistic approach ensures that children receive the care and attention they need to thrive.
While we celebrate the success of our first event, we are already looking forward to our next fundraising initiative. Our aim is to continue supporting Invictus Wellbeing and other organisations that work tirelessly to improve children’s mental health.
In closing, I extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated and contributed to the success of our wellness walk. Together, we have taken a meaningful step toward a brighter, healthier future for our children. Let’s continue this momentum and keep supporting the invaluable work that charities like Invictus Wellbeing do every day.
Stay tuned for more updates and upcoming events. Together, we can make a difference.
