Macmillan Coffee Morning 2024

03/10/2024

In a world where technology often dominates our interactions, the simple act of coming together over coffee and cake can forge strong community bonds. Recently, Riverbank School hosted a Macmillan Coffee Morning—a testament to the power of unity and a shared cause. This event was not only a celebration of community spirit but also an opportunity to support a worthwhile cause and demonstrate the impact of collective efforts.

From the very start, the excitement around Riverbank School’s Macmillan Coffee Morning was palpable. Leading up to the event, students and teachers hit the streets of our charming village, selling tickets and spreading the word. This initiative was not just about raising money—it was about engaging with the community and getting everyone involved in something bigger than themselves.

No community event is complete without the backing of local businesses, and we were fortunate to receive overwhelming support. A special shout out goes to the local café, whose fresh-baked scones were a highlight!

On the morning of the event, the school hall was transformed into a bustling café, with tables adorned with homemade treats and steaming cups of coffee. The turnout exceeded all expectations, with not just parents and students but also residents from all around the village coming together to support the cause. Through ticket sales and donations, we were able to raise an impressive £227 for Macmillan Cancer Support!

Riverbank School wasn’t alone in hosting this inspiring event. Our secondary schools, Brookland and Brearley Hall, also held their own Coffee Mornings, creating a friendly rivalry while working towards a common goal. This collaboration across schools exemplified the strong network and mutual support system within our wider educational community. Sharing resources, ideas, and successes enhanced each event and provided a platform for exchanging best practices.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved—students, parents, staff, businesses, and residents—for your enthusiasm and support.
