Communication is Key!
01/03/2022We have a fantastic Speech therapy team here at Timeout. Lorna is our head speech therapist and Hannah is our speech therapist assistant.
Their roles involve accessing all children in our care as well as the pupils in our schools at Timeout, Riverbank and Brearley Hall. At this time Lorna and Hannah are focusing on the pupils within the schools, in the pipeline their will be specific intervention groups tailored to the children’s needs, the team will be holding weekly groups at both schools.
So what do Lorna and Hannah offer at Timeout?
They help with speech and sound difficulties, providing support and care for children. These difficulties can be caused by delayed development and difficulty using words.
The environmental factors are being able to string sentences together or language disorders which can be linked to trauma.
They help with the understanding of other people and the social aspect of making friends which is very important in school.
Currently the team are offering a training course to all care staff and teachers, called
An introduction to Speech, Language and Communication in Children with Attachment Difficulties and Complex Trauma.
