Autumn 2017 at Timeout Children’s Homes

Children and staff have enjoyed a busy, enjoyable and productive Autumn at Timeout Children’s Homes, with a range of events in both the schools and the homes. This is just a small selection of the activities that our children and young people have taken part in over the Autumn months.

New school year for our children

September welcomed all pupils back to both our schools. Riverbank will see the development of their outside space to allow more activities for outside play and the grassed area will be turned into a sustainable garden. The children will be planting food that will be used in their school lunches. We will then be developing our KS1 provision to create a designated KS1 base for the younger children, giving them their dining room back. At Elland House, the Technology suite at the back will be fully operating and used for the AQA Technical Awards. These are qualifications that are available at level 1 or 2, and will let the children follow subjects that they may want to pursue as a career later.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Our Macmillan Coffee Morning also took place in September. Congratulations to everyone who worked hard baking, and thank you to everyone who attended, chatted, ate cake and generally enjoyed themselves! It was a hugely successful morning, and we raised £168.55 for Macmillan! Our children really enjoyed knowing they were doing something to help other people through this incredible event.

Hallowe’en Ball

One of our residents, N, came up with the idea for having a Hallowe’en Ball and designed the poster for it. The party was a huge success, with games, lots of food and some astonishing (and truly SCARY!) costumes and makeup. Perhaps we have some budding makeup artists in our homes!?

The winter season looks to be just as creative and fun, with lots of festive activities planned.
